Sport relief

I try to keep the things at school separate from my crafting but every now and then an opportunity arises for a great photo!
We all (well when I say all, I actually mean the children) ran a mile and paid to wear sporty clothes. A lot of my class were wearing the official sport relief socks (including me) so I got my trusty LSA to take this photo (yes my lovely feet are in there too!).

I thought I'd share with you how I made the flowers. I used my bigshot and the layered flowers die. As there are 3 parts to each flower, I cut the flower 3 times on coordinating paper so that I could mix and match each one.
I then used brushed corduroy to ink the edges of the petals and then used a red cats eye chalk ink to just highlight the tips.

After all the inking, I used my embossing tool to curl the petals so the flowers had added depth and then fastened them together with a brad.

Hope you like it.

It's spring!

Well spring has finally sprung. After what seemed like an eternally long winter I think we've made it through to the other side!

This page I've made for the weeks challenge over on UKS. The theme was spring, to use colour to match the theme, to distress and to include a spring themed quote. I think I've covered all the options!!
I looked through lots of spring quotes, all of which sum up the season beautifully, but eventually settled on this one. I think it matches how I feel about spring as well.

Hope you like it.

Spring card

Yay! I've made something - whoop whoop.

I've been so bogged down by school work and making tags and bookmarks for swaps that I joined that I kind of got cardmaking and scrapping block! I also had no energy or inclination to get all the paper bits and bobs out after busy busy days.

However ... today I've joined the passion for promarkers blog challenge.

There was no colour scheme but it was to be spring themed and must include an animal.

So here is my entry.

I haven't made a card for ages so it's quite a simple one but hey ho, I like it. Hope you do too!

not been blogging :(

Hi everyone,
Just to let you know that I'm still here! Work has been extremely busy this last couple of weeks. Why does work life get in the way so much? Grrrr. Can't I stay at home, scrap and make cards and still get paid what I do? Can someone find me a job that pays what I get now but which I don't have to take home with me evry night?

So anyway, there is light at the end of the tunnel and the easter holidays are nearly here (hooray!). Whilst I've got lots of work to do in the hols I plan to craft in the evnings. Can't wait!!

Shimelle: Something from almost nothing

I've decided to take the plunge and I've signed up for Shimelle Laines online course called Something From Almost Nothing.

The idea is that you use the stash you already have so you don't have to buy anything specifically for it. You can make your own separate album but I'm just going to add to the albums I already have on the go.

So along came prompt one and it was to use anything metal. There were designer pages to look at for inspiration (and yes they were just lovely) and lots of ideas. I have loads of brads so I decided to use them on my next page.
I'm not really a brad person, but that's the whole point of the course as it encourages you to use things that just lay around!

Prompt 2 has arrived. I'm not going to reveal what it is just yet as I want to make a page first.

playing with ink

Over on UKS, my team are having a tag swap. I've not made any before but there's a first time for everything!

I've being playing around with my inks and come up with a background that I'm kind of happy with.

I also dug out one of my Paperartsy stamps that I haven't used for ages. I'm thinking that I could maybe use this as a topper. I haven't sorted my final plan for the tag yet but I've got a few ideas that I'm playing with. I don't want to reveal all now in case any teamies are reading this!

I've also joined a bookmark swap so I'm going to play with the same kind of ideas for the background. I've got to put a quote on my bookmark and I've managed to find quite a few of these, but I still haven't sussed how I'm going to put my quote on. I'm to have to put my extra big thinking cap on for that one!

70th Birthday

So here is my lastest LO. You'll have to excuse the photo. The PVA isn't quite dry on the buttons which is why you can still see it, but I was in a rush to get this up and I just couldn't wait any longer!
This is a very simple LO and I used My Minds Eye paper and embellies. The buttons are papermania.
Bill and his wife Yvonne are very good friends of ours. Bill and Simon have played petanque together for many years now. Yvonne and I share a love of reading and we are always swapping books. Bill calls Simon his 'adopted son', but even though it's untrue, they are both very much like family to us.

Stamperama

Sunday 28th February I made my way in the pouring rain to Stevenage. Here I met up with other UK Scrappers. From left to right:
Jacqui (ScrapJack), Diane (Danny C), Me, Gingerscraps (Alana).
I had a lovely time and have made some great new friends.
Thanks ladies.

And this is the stash I bough (BIG GULP). I spent rather a lot of money - but hey, you only live once (well that's what I'm telling the bank manager!).
As you can see I've got plenty to be getting on with, but then I have plenty to do!
I've tags to make for a swap as well as a bookmark for a swap too.
So...less blogging and more making!!!!!
